Carolina Vargas-Gonzalez is a Chilean-born ceramic artist based in Martinborough, New Zealand. Her work explores the intersection between sculptural form and functional object, working across both handbuilding and wheel-throwing techniques, with a strong emphasis on textured surfaces and layered glazing processes.
Working under the name Nidito Ceramics, she has been developing her practice for over 10 years through workshops, commissions, exhibitions, and markets. Her work often carries subtle Latin American sensibilities, reflecting her upbringing and cultural background.
Alongside her ceramics practice, Carolina has been studying architecture since 2021 and is currently undertaking a Master of Architecture. This dual practice informs her work through an ongoing exploration of structure, balance, void, and spatial experience.
